Pregnancy: 1st Trimester Go-to's

Jan 22, 2022

Hey, momma!

Thank you so much for dropping by this post!

I sure hope you find yourself well!

If not, I totally feel for you, and praying that hope this post helps you!

Today, I am posting a list of everything that effectively helped me through my first trimester of my second pregnancy!

In case you haven't heard my podcast episode about it (if you are interested in listening, please click here), as a brief summary, the most prominent symptoms I experienced were morning sickness and nausea through weeks 5-10, and as a result, initiated a battle with anxiety since I have a phobia of vomiting.

Pregnancy is a gift, and I'm very grateful to embark on this journey, so please see this post as no other intention than to help any other momma out there that might be experiencing the same things (because while it's a gift, it's certainly not easy!)

Okay, here we go :)

Physical products

Pink Stork: Morning Sickness Tea (ginger peach flavour)

This tea is so soothing and delish! Other ginger products didn't seem to work for me, but this one did! I'm also not a big fan of the taste of ginger on it's own, so the peach is an extra bonus!

Preggie Pop Drops - Assorted Flavours

THESE ARE AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!!!! I promise you, they are worth EVERY penny! They taste yummy and actually relieve the nausea like no other product I've used. I find them especially useful when travelling in a vehicle.

The Christian Mom's Pregnancy Journal

In my previous pregnancy, I simply kept a log of my experience in a lined notebook, which was great in it's own way, but this time around, this book was my favourite way to record my journey! I loved the way it explained the role that God has in pregnancy, and how it includes prayers to lift you up! It's easy to follow, and doesn't require a huge time commitment since it goes week-by-week, but it's enough to soothe your soul! I have nothing but good things to say! Highly recommend!

Migrastril Migraine Nausea Relief Sticks

I got these as a gift from a friend, and they worked wonders! They contain lavendar, spearmint and ginger essential oils that you can smell to induce nausea relief. When the hardest hours of morning sickness hit, these really took the edge off!

Werther's Original Caramel Hard Candies

I used these to relieve the "metal-like" taste I would get in my mouth after eating- especially sweets. I surprisingly preferred them to mint gum or candies.

Pregnancy Meditation

Christian Meditation

These two channels helped GREATLY with my anxiety during my morning sickness. I would often listen to them whenever my anxiety would initiate, and especially before bed to relax and calm me for a better sleep. It does require setting aside time to listen, but they are SO worth it!

I provided two specific videos in the links, but be sure to browse their other videos, as they have lots to choose from!

Joyce Meyer Podcast

If you've been around my page for a while, you would know that I am a big fan of Joyce Meyer. Listening to her podcast episodes gave me so much perspective and hope during this time!

Other tips & tricks:

- I found drinking lots of water and staying hydrated was HUGE

- Eating small meals often. Always keeping something in your stomach if you can!

- Talk it out! I relied a lot on my loved ones, and even reached out to a mental health nurse so that I could talk out all of my feelings. Everything you're experiencing is new and out-of-norm, and it helps to be able to express how you're managing with the people around you.

- Don't be afraid to ask for help! You're the one carrying the baby, but you don't have to go through it alone!

- Try to remind yourself as often as you can that this phase is temporary. You WILL feel like yourself again one day- even if you don't know when that is, it WILL happen!

- Try your best to accept your limitations during this stage. Rest when needed and don't feel bad if you can't keep up to your normal routine. That just isn't reality right now. Your body is going through a lot. Be sure to give yourself grace!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope that this post helped you in some way! Please feel free to reach out anytime on my DM's on my Instagram page here! I am cheering you on and praying for you, friend! 💙
