The Hate on Health

fitness health selfcare wellness Nov 23, 2020

I have only started on my journey of coaching health and wellness, and I can already see that it is not an easy thing to excite people about.

The industry comes with a lot of baggage.

Unrealistic and vain standards have resulted in eating disorders, fear of restriction and down right anxiousness at the very thought of taking care of yourself.

I wish I could erase it all. I wish we could start on a blank canvas and start with the basics. Because that's really what health is- basic. It involves eating REAL food from ALL food groups (with exception to allergies), moving your body (it doesn't have to be military style), and creating a mind-soul balance because everything is ultimately connected. You want a formula? There it is.

So what is it about health that everyone is triggered by?

The evolution of social media and the "social standard" of beauty doesn't help us. It causes us to associate health with looking a certain way and only eating chicken. We put our focus on one thing and OBSESS about it.

I will be the first to admit to being victim to this storyline. Flashback to my late teens and you would find a girl who wanted to fit in and be accepted. It didn't work by the way...

However, I believe it's something everyone goes through, especially women. You need to pass through those waters before you can really see the truth. As you begin to nurture yourself with more than just the voices of the outside world, you will begin to get clarity. You realize that there is more to this than six-pack abs and ideal curves...

That's just it. There's more. A whole lot more. An abundance of more.

Such as:

1) increasing your energy and decreasing stress.

 2) developing and strengthening the muscles of discipline and endurance to use in every other area of your life.

 3) honouring God with the body he gifted you so that you can live for the purpose he intended for you to have.

Put the focus on the WHOLE picture.

Stick to the basics. Stop making it scary and complicated.

You've got what it takes. So do it!

Yours in health,

- Jess
